I am formerly a Professor at the SRM School of Management Studies, SRM University, Kattankulathur - 603203, India. Earlier to this position, I was Syndicate Member of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University and Professor and Head, Department of Statistics, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, India. I have also functioned as Registrar I/c, Controller of Examinations I/c, Dean, Faculties of Science, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, India. My fields of Research are Queueing theory, Stochastic Processes, Statistical Inference, Bio-Statistics, Statistical Quality Control, Operations Research, Econometrics, Demography, Reliability and Life Testing and Mathematical Economics. My research work on Continuous Inspection for Markov-Dependent Production Processes is receiving attention from various Industrial Organizations and Universities. My work will be useful to defence industries and other industries which are producing items such as Textiles ,Cement bags, tinned items and defence items which are produced on a conveyor line continuously. I am working with great effort for the development of Science and Popularization of Science.
I have put in 40 years of Post-Graduate teaching & Research experience and 15 years of administrative experience. I have published 62 research papers (National 42 and International 20), 7 Text books and 45 Technical reports. I have produced 25 Ph.D., and 20 M.Phil., students in Statistics-Mathematics ( inter- disciplinary) and presently supervising 2 students for their Ph.D. from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. I have done collaborative works with India Cements Limited on Statistical Quality Control and Operations Research Problems. In addition to this, I have done inter-disciplinary work with Fisheries College, Tuticorin and Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta on Directional data analyses. I have presented 40 research papers in National Conferences and 6 papers in the International Conferences. I have delivered 35 special invited lectures in various Universities and Institutes which includes the Seminar lectures given at National University of Singapore, Chinese Academy of Sciences, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Kowloon, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shatin, Oregon State University, U.S.A and visited Failure Analysis Associates Inc., at Menlo Park, San Francisco, USA.
For my distinguished contributions to the development of world-wide relations between Statistical Societies, applications of various Statistical methods and to the administration of Statistical services, I was elected as a Member of International Statistical Institute, The Netherlands. It is one of the oldest International Scientific Associations functioning in the modern world which was established in 1885 at Voorgurg, The Netherlands. I am Member of the American Research Board of Advisors, North Carolina, USA. I received the prestigious Research Fellow gold Coin Award (1995) from American Research Board of Advisors, USA and Men of Achievement Award from International Biographical Institute, London and Young Scientist Award from Indian Science Congress Association for the best paper in the 69th Session of the Indian Science Congress Association, Calcutta. I am a also an elected Vice President of Indian Society for Probability and Statistics, India. I recently received the DST-FIST AWARD (2005).
To promote the understanding and advancement of official statistics, survey designs and computer applications, I am currently making serious efforts to the best of my ability through international contacts among the individuals and organizations.
